Research overview

TB-500 is a synthetic seven-residue peptide, Ac-LKKTETQ, corresponding to the central actin-binding region of thymosin β4, a 43-residue protein that sequesters monomeric G-actin and is abundant in most cells.

The full-length protein has been studied for its roles in cell migration, angiogenesis and wound repair. The 17–23 fragment is used in research to isolate the activity associated with this actin-binding motif in cell-migration and wound-healing models.

Note that TB-500 is the fragment, not full-length thymosin β4. Supplied as a lyophilized acetate salt.
