Research overview
Selank is a synthetic heptapeptide built from tuftsin (Thr-Lys-Pro-Arg), an endogenous immunomodulatory peptide, extended with a Pro-Gly-Pro sequence that increases its metabolic stability.
Developed at the Institute of Molecular Genetics of the Russian Academy of Sciences, it has been studied in rodent models of anxiety-related behaviour, and for its effects on GABAergic signalling, enkephalin-degrading enzymes and gene expression in the brain.
