MW 813.93 CAS 80714-61-0 ≥99.0% (HPLC)
A heptapeptide built from the ACTH(4-7) fragment.
What it is
Semax is a synthetic heptapeptide consisting of the ACTH(4-7) fragment (Met-Glu-His-Phe) followed by Pro-Gly-Pro. It lacks the corticotropic (hormonal) activity of full-length ACTH.
Research, mostly in rodents, has examined Semax in models of cerebral ischemia and for its effects on the expression of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) and its receptor TrkB.
