Research overview

Glutathione is a tripeptide in which glutamate is linked to cysteine through its γ-carboxyl group, followed by glycine. In its reduced form (GSH) the free cysteine thiol makes it the principal non-protein antioxidant inside cells.

It is used in research on redox balance, detoxification enzymes such as glutathione S-transferases, and oxidative stress in cell culture.

Reduced glutathione oxidises to GSSG in air and solution; keep the vial sealed and frozen until use.
